The European Shipping Summit (ESS) 2025 is a two-day event organised by the European Shipping Industry.

This year, ESS 2025 will bring together policy & decision makers with industry leaders and stakeholders from the broader European maritime cluster, including its supply chain, environmental organisations, seafarers and other maritime workers. The European Shipping Summit will be the first major maritime event after the newly formed European Parliament and European Commission.

This event is a joint initiative of the EU shipping associations representing all shipping segments.

The two-day event will feature 12 thematic sessions on day one and the flagship conference on day two. The ESS 2025 will engage with the new MEPs and Commissioners and discuss the main challenges ahead of Europe and global shipping industry.

The discussions are structured around 3 pillars:

  • International Competitiveness of European Shipping and Security
  • Investing in Clean Shipping Fuels and New Technologies
  • Reskilling and Upskilling the Maritime Workforce

EuDA will intervene in two sessions:

  • Welcome Session 09:30-10:30
    Industry – Towards a competitive EU maritime industrial strategy.Co-organised by ECSA – European Community Shipowners’ Association, SEA Europe – European Shipyards & Maritime Equipment Association and EuDA – European Dredging Association.Overall description:
    The new Commission is fully aware of the new global challenges facing the European maritime industries and is rising to the challenge by bringing in new initiatives under the EU Maritime Industrial Strategy. The Strategy will aim at improving the European maritime industries’ competitiveness and regaining their edge against competitors heavily distorting global markets.
  • Closing Session 14:30-15:30
    People – Decarbonisation Beyond Technology: The Power of Human Action.Co-organised by EMPA – European Maritime Pilots Association, EuDA – European Dredging Association, and ETA – European Tugowners Association.Overall objective:
    The transition to low-carbon port operations requires more than just technological advancements—it also requires a shift in human behaviour, infrastructure design and operations. This workshop explores the pivotal role of behavioural change and infrastructure design in reducing emissions and enhancing sustainability within port operations. The workshop will also present the ongoing work of the Greenport Alliance project, which is specifically aimed at exploring the impact of behavioural changes and identifying learning strategies for such change.The programme of this session will soon be available.
